A new reign begins on the GW Amp site today. A new herald of the Site Manager title has been chosen and his name is Wyat_Hawke.
For those unaware, outstanding staffer/member Kanna recently stepped down as Site Manager for the site. In his departure, a new SM was sought to fill in the void. Kanna will be missed as staffer but I am pretty sure he isn't completely leaving the site. I would like to be one of the first to thank him for his time and effort he placed into the site on a daily basis. Also please give congratulations to Wyat in his new position for the site.
With Wyat taking over as SM, we are considering opening up to take on new staffers. Stay tuned for news on seeking out site assistance. If anyone has any questions feel free to contact Wyat or myself.
Stay tuned to Gameamp.com for more news on Guild Wars.

Friends, Romans, Countrymen, lend me your ears...
Loyal and faithful community members and Beta testers, thank you for your support, help, and understanding during the Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising development process.
The development team established some very lofty and ambitious goals when the initial work was started on Gods & Heroes. Recently, we took a step back to evaluate the competitive landscape, the game's current state, and the overall goals for our organization. And while we are truly proud of and pleased with what we have created in Gods & Heroes, we also realize that achieving the level of quality and polish that we are committed to will take a significant investment.
The Perpetual team is faced with a unique challenge of simultaneously developing both Gods & Heroes and Star Trek Online in addition to growing our Online Game Platform business. After assessing all of Perpetual's opportunities, we have made the decision to put the development of Gods & Heroes on indefinite hold.
I want to express my overwhelming gratitude to the community, engineers, designers, artists, animators, and the game services team for the support and effort that has gone into Gods & Heroes.
Moving forward, we're shifting our collective focus, resources and development efforts to Perpetual's Platform Services division and Star Trek Online, thereby ensuring that the game lives up to the high level of expectation set by the dedicated Star Trek fan base.
Again, I would personally like to thank all of the Gods & Heroes supporters who have been with us from the beginning. Hopefully, your continued support will be as valuable to our future endeavors as it was with Gods & Heroes..
Friday Perpetual announced that they will be taking Gods and Heroes back from Sony Online Entertainment. Perpetual will be replacing Sony as the publisher of Gods and Heroes, they had previously made a co-publishing agreement on the game. Senior Brand Manager for SOE Debysue Wolfcale said the move was not a breaking of ties because SOE will still market and distribute the game.
QUOTE
"All this does is clarify to the gaming community and press that Sony has no active role in the development of Gods and Heroes," claims Wolfcale "and all credit should go to Perpetual for their work."
Wolfcale says that Perpetual should get the most exposure possible with this game because it is their first title to be released. By changing the official publisher this gives them that name recognition.

Grouping - Up to 5 players can group together at a single time and use up to 4 minions for each of their characters.

'Scuse me while I kiss the Skybox! If I could, I would. It's just that darn pretty.
The developers over at Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising have given the game an entire facelift graphically with a new technique they call 'Skybox.' Skybox dramatically lights clouds, water, sky and the enviroment around your character.
With the new Skybox the sky will no longer stand still, but will move along with your character. In other words when you go up a mountain you will get closer, or down in a valley you will feel farther away. Also the position of the sun will change with the time of day. With Skybox the camera will move with you and the sky is locked to your camera, hense the name skybox.
Skybox has many features which include:
fully dynamic clouds that use volumetric lighting
cirrus, cumulus, stratus, and storm clouds
control of everything from the color to density when the sunlight passes through
dynamic bloom and lighting on the sun and moon
ability to change the sun and moons position in the sky
Mike Hines, Art Director for Gods and Heroes discusses the games environment art style.
It holds realistic shapes and texture with a linear detail that brings out the simplified colors within elements. There is no fantasy linear or shape elements according to Hines, "There are no highly exaggerated compound tapering curves and dramatic proportional shifts within elements." Just simple lines, natural colors, basically good art. Overall Gods and Heros has a "painterly feel" to it with a lighting and palette combination that exaggerats the use of a hyper-saturated color palette based upon natural hues.
Hines has been influenced by the "Neo-Classical, Pre-Raphaelite and Luminist painters."
Hines goes into more detail and explains how important the Environment was to the artistic team when creating Gods and Heroes. To read the full story CLICK HERE
Who is your main character? Ampy wants to know. I thought it would be a fun Idea to have a little biography contest to see what you Ampers can come up with. Ampy wants you to write an autobiography for your character letting us know who they are from the point of view of your character. We are looking for edgy stories of how your characters came to be and why they chose to be either good or evil. If they have powers how they got them (where they born with them or were they gained from another means) and how do they use them (for good or evil). Did some dramatic event make them choose to go to the dark side or stand in the light? We want to know.
Prizes: Along with the 25pt credit, you will receive for your entry you will also get:
Grand Prize: Free Tee-shirt from the Gameamp Shop and 200pts Credit
Second Place 150pts Credit
Third Place: 100pts Credit
Binky, the Community Manager at Gods and Heros has just acounced that those of you that there will be an active campaign launched to drive up the sign ups for the Closed Beta. There will now be a seperate form that people can sign up for closed beta so they do not have to create a platform account. This is because creating an account on their community website will automatically register you for the Closed Beta now weather you use their forums or not but you are still signed up for a forum account.
Meh who needs a forum account outside of gameamp anyway? We are so much cooler and flame free!!!
Anyway, you can sign-up through that form when it goes live but if you already have an account here you do not need to.
GameAmp would like to say thank you to all of our staff who have made this site possible. As the information is publically released we will be
adding additional sections of the site that will contain information pertaining to Gods and Heroes. We will have all of the calender,
song requester, contest schedule and everything else to you as soon as possible. We are currently working
on a solution that will allow for easier readability and navigation than the current systems available on some sites. Since
this entire site is built upon a custom foundation of code we are able to add and deploy sections rapidly to bring you new content
as soon as it's available. For now, make sure you signup for an account so you can begin posting and contributing content to the
sites. If you think of anything you'd like to see then feel free to send a message to the site administrator. He is in direct
contact with the development team and, if he sees fit, can have custom areas developed for all you Gods and Heroes fans out there.
Thanks for visiting!
