Gladiator
The Gladiator will be the fighter with honor less tactics and dirty tricks. Looks like we have a pure melee fighter whose main focus is damage output and more then likely will include debilitating attacks, and with that means less armored then the Soldier. He should be able to tank with a shield however that will not play on his strengths he will be more at home with the enemy’s attention elsewhere.
He is a slave, criminal, or prisoner of war, forced to fight another to the death to see the sun rise again. Over time the killing brought fame and fortune, and blood thirst grew, the more blood the Gladiator spills on the dirt floors of the coliseum the better he will sleep at night. The Gladiator often follows Fortuna or Jupiter.
Soldier
The Soldier is our tank, master of arms and master of body, in other words he can take a hit. Not to say he can not dish out what he takes, he will just be more of a single focus fighter. If the Priest is the backbone of a well-balanced group then the Soldier will be the vertebrae, the two working closely to form the building blocks of a solid party. Sword and board is how the Soldier will roll and that is just how it is.
A protector of the Romans and a man of honor and obedience, the Soldier lives to serve his country. Charging into battle in hopes of taking the enemy’s attention away from his comrades is what this class is about. Hopefully we will see some protect ally skills implemented for him or redirect damage spells. The Soldier often follows Mars or Minerva.
Scout
The Scout is an archer with an affinity with wild animals and the skill set to hunt them. He is a master of deadly traps, and his speed can benefit his entire party. Being the deadly with ranged combat, his ability to melee will probably be significantly underpowered.
If sitting in the back ranks firing arrows into the fray is your game then look no further. He is not going to be the type to charge in side by side with the warrior, his job will be to assist in dispatching the enemies quickly and/or taking out enemy Priests and Mystics. The Scout often follows Diana or Apollo.
Rogue
The Rogue is our stealth focused character, lock picking, trap disabling, backstabs, ambushes, critical strikes, damage multipliers, bleeding effects, etc. He is your best bet for a multi purpose character with a wide play style. Sneaking into the back ranks for a surprise assault or debilitating a powerful foe should be the Rogue’s area of expertise.
A hired assassin or a lowly thief you can play a Rogue the way you see fit. If history teaches us anything that is exactly how it will be, the skill system should allow you to specialize in a wide variety of combinations especially for this class. The Rogue often follows Mercury or Nemesis.
Priest
The Priest will be our lifeline, keeping the party and the tank above all in tip top shape. Along with resurrection, buffs, and powerful heals, the Priest in GnH will be able to curse his enemies. You can not knock anyone for giving the support classes something different to play with, and I for one will enjoy throwing out some debuffs.
We will probably be seeing more of the same with the Priest but there is no problem with that, every game needs a healer and giving you the decision on who lives or dies is a hefty responsibility. A class like the Priest requires a lot of finesse and timing, it takes a quick thinker to play it right. The Priest is ever loyal to the god her servers, more often then not is either Pluto or Juno.
Mystic
The Mystic is our traditional mage, invoking destructive magic from range. Like the Priest, he too will have the ability to curse his enemies to weaken them. If calling on the elements to deal massive damage to your opponent is what you are after then the Mystic has your name all over it.
Fragile at best; the Mystic requires constant protection from the party, and he will get it if he proves to be a force to be reckoned with. We can probably expect our Mystic to be lord of the area of effect as well, greatly injuring or even killing entire groups of enemies at a time. The Mystic often follows Trevia or Bacchus.
