Mike Hines, Art Director for Gods and Heroes discusses the games environment art style.
It holds realistic shapes and texture with a linear detail that brings out the simplified colors within elements. There is no fantasy linear or shape elements according to Hines, "There are no highly exaggerated compound tapering curves and dramatic proportional shifts within elements." Just simple lines, natural colors, basically good art. Overall Gods and Heros has a "painterly feel" to it with a lighting and palette combination that exaggerats the use of a hyper-saturated color palette based upon natural hues.
Hines has been influenced by the "Neo-Classical, Pre-Raphaelite and Luminist painters."
Hines goes into more detail and explains how important the Environment was to the artistic team when creating Gods and Heroes. To read the full story CLICK HERE
